Vision
To improve public safety through relevant and high quality research.
Research: a systematic investigation, including research development, testing, and evaluation, designed to develop or contribute to generalizable knowledge. Activities which meet this definition constitute research for purposes of this policy, whether they are conducted or supported under a program which is considered research for other purposes(45 CFR 46 §46.102).
Academic Recognition
DOC would like to recognize the hard work that is being done by academics across the country when making the decision to conduct their research on Washington State Department of Corrections programs, and its offender population.
