The Washington State Reformatory Unit (WSRU) opened in 1910 and houses close and medium custody levels.  Offenders are housed in two cellblocks.  Each cellblock has 316 cells and houses approximately 360 offenders.  A segregation unit provides 80 beds for officers.  An inpatient hospital unit is also available at WSRU.

Programs

Edmonds Community College provides basic education and vocational programs including information technology, graphic arts, computer services and parenting.  Offender change programs include religious programming, programs provided by volunteers, contracted programs such as Getting It Right and Job Hunter, family friendly programs and recreation programs.  Work assignments include janitorial, food service, plant maintenance, motor pool, sewer treatment plant, recreation, clerical, library, and grounds maintenance.

FROM I-5 (either North or South): Take Exit 194 (Wenatchee/Snohomish). Take Highway 2 to Monroe (13.5 miles). As you enter Monroe, at the 2nd stop light (across from the Evergreen State Fairgrounds - on the right is Valley General Hospital) take a right onto 179th Avenue S.E. At the 4-way stop take a right onto 162nd Street S.E. (Main Street). Just past the school bus parking area take a left on 177th Avenue S.E. When the road Y's, stay to the right. Stop at the tower speaker, tell the Officer what your business is and the Officer will direct you to the MSU and parking.

FROM I-405 (either North or Southbound): Take Exit 23A - Woodinville/Monroe (Wenatchee). Take Highway 522 to Monroe (11.5 miles). Take the 164th Street Exit (Monroe-City Center) and turn right at the stop sign. Drive (approx. one/half mile) to 177th Avenue S.E. (it is the 3rd right - on the left is Sky Valley Medical Center) and take a right. When the road Y's, stay to the right. Stop at the tower speaker, tell the Officer what your business is and the Officer will direct you to the MSU and parking.
