FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                                   July 31, 2009

OLYMPIA – A Department of Corrections unit today arrested an inmate who escaped two weeks ago from a minimum-security prison in Thurston County.

Stanley Green, 47, is in custody at a jail in Oregon and awaits extradition to Washington.

DOC staff members gathered intelligence to trace Green to Warrenton, Ore., located along the northwest coast. DOC this week sent a unit to the area and arrested Green inside a Fred Meyer department store.

DOC coordinated with local, state and federal law-enforcement agencies during the search.

Green walked away from a forest service crew July 16 about a mile from Cedar Creek Corrections Center, located in southwest Thurston County. He was serving a prison sentence for three counts of first-degree robbery in Yakima, Whatcom and Thurston counties.

Green was scheduled to be released in August 2012. He could face escape charges in Thurston County.
