Chemical Dependency (CD)

The addiction to alcohol or any mood altering substances.

Chemical Dependency Screening

Used to identify offenders as either having a high or low probability of being chemically dependent for the purpose of referral for chemical dependency assessment. The Department's chemical dependency program uses the substance Subtle Abuse Screening Inventory (SASSI) as its chemical dependency screening instrument.

Drug Offender Sentencing Alternative (DOSA)

An alternative treatment oriented sentence for offenders convicted of the Violation of the Uniform Controlled Substance Act (VUCSA), or solicitation to commit VUCSA or those offenders the court finds a chemical dependency has contributed to their offense.
