Corrections work takes many forms, from correctional officers and community supervision staff to counselors, healthcare providers, maintenance crews, clerical teams, and so many more. Every person plays a vital role in keeping facilities and communities safe, supporting rehabilitation, and making a real difference in people’s lives. Often, this work happens behind the scenes and without recognition—but its impact is felt every day.

This month, through a proclamation from Governor Ferguson and Secretary Lang, Washington officially recognizes Corrections Appreciation Month. But for those who know this work, no proclamation is needed to understand the difference these dedicated professionals make. Today, and every day, we simply say: thank you.
